Like in the photo above, you can see that this guppy is inactive. But why? The most common thing to cause any fish to be like this is stress. It is bad for a pregnant livebearer to be stressed out as she may abort her fry/miscarry. Yo prevent stressing out your livebearers and prevent miscarriages, the best thing to do is not do as many water changes as you may do already. Any sudden, dramatic change in the water quality, whether it be temperature, pH, hardness or softness, your pregnant livebearer will stress and more than likely miscarry. If you buy an already pregnant livebearer at a pet store, she probably wont deliver when she arrives to your tank. Why? Mainly because of being in the bag and being chased by the net to be caught...

When purchasing your livebearers...

Be sure to buy ONE (1) male for every TWO (2) females. And why? After one of the females gives birth, she will be tired and the male will want to mate again. If there are less females than males, your females will probably be chased to death from exhaustion...

Really examine your purchase before you just decide to buy your livebearer. Notice the guppy in the photo above, he has a ripped tail and is more than likely sick...
